Bhubaneswar, June 15: The bodies of two people from Odisha who died in a fire in Kuwait were brought to Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on a special plane last Saturday, according to officials.
The victims were Mohammed Jahur from Karadapalli village in Cuttack district and Santosh Gouda from Ranajhali village in Ganjam district. Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida received the bodies at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar along with state officials and the victims' families. They paid their respects at the airport.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi also announced Rs 4 lakh each as compensation to the families of the deceased. The state government has arranged for the bodies to be sent to their respective hometowns. A total of 45 Indians, including two from Odisha, lost their lives in the fire in Kuwait's Mangaf on June 12.
