Bhubaneswar, January 19: Works Department Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh on Monday reviewed the four major road projects, including the 111-kilometre-long Capital Region Ring Road around Bhubaneswar and direct road connection from Bhubaneswar to Jagatsinghpur and Paradip.

Singh directed concerned officers and engineers to expedite project execution, including obtaining forest and environment clearances and completing land acquisition at the earliest.

Discussions were also held on decongesting traffic in Cuttack city and developing a direct road connection from Bhubaneswar to Jagatsinghpur and Paradip.

The Principal Secretary instructed officials to prepare the alignment plan and DPR for a new Greenfield road from near Dhakulei Peetha to Kandarpur. Once constructed, this road will eliminate the need to pass through Cuttack city while travelling from Bhubaneswar to Jagatsinghpur and Paradip, thereby reducing travel distance and time.

The meeting further reviewed the widening and land acquisition for the 206-kilometre-long Koraput–Mohana road. Similarly, discussions were held on the upgradation and widening of the Khordha–Nayagarh road, and officials were instructed to expedite execution strictly as per the approved DPR.

The meeting was attended by Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Special Secretary, Works Department, Lakshmikant Padhi; Regional Officer, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Sunil Kumar; Chief Engineer, National Highways (Odisha).
