Cuttack, Nov 6: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the 2025 edition of the historic Cuttack Bali Yatra on Wednesday evening at the Bali Yatra Ground here. At the inauguration of Baliyatra 2025, CM Mohan Majhi announced that the Central Government has approved ₹50,000 crore for the development of new ports in the state. He highlighted that by 2030, Odisha is set to make new history in the field of cargo transportation.

The Chief Minister further revealed that the Bahuda Port in Ganjam district will soon become the state’s second-largest port, marking a significant leap in Odisha's maritime infrastructure.

During his speech, CM Majhi also mentioned ongoing efforts to secure UNESCO recognition for the Cuttack Baliyatra. He added that the Barabati Fort is set to undergo preparations for its DPR (Detailed Project Report), with independent measures being taken for its beautification. In addition, the state government will increase the financial grant for Cuttack Baliyatra, raising the fund from ₹5 crore to ₹10 crore.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by various dignitaries at the event, including Minister Surjyabanshi Suraj, Member of Parliament Bhartuhari Mahatab, Rajya Sabha Member Debashish Samantaray, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdaus, MLA Prakash Chandra Sethy, and MLA Saubhik Biswal.

As part of the event, CM Majhi also inaugurated the ORMAS Pallishree Mela and took a tour in an electric vehicle, visiting several stalls. He engaged with women entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups during the visit.

The administration has made extensive arrangements for the Baliyatra festival. The police have ensured that all safety protocols are in place for the smooth conduct of the event, while crowd management and traffic control measures have been implemented to ensure public safety.
