Puri, Aug 10: Puri Town Police on Saturday arrested five persons including a minor for their connection with the Khaja trader Dinesh Khuntia murder case on Thursday night.
According to the report, Dinesh was allegedly hacked to death on Thursday night while he was on his way to home after closing his business.
Dinesh, who was previously working as a guide, had started selling khaja near Srikrishna cinema hall in Puri. He was involved in a dispute with Pradeep Sahu, a fellow khaja vendor. On Thursday night, as Dinesh was heading home after closing his business, Pradeep and his associates—Kanha, Gopal, and Dilu—attacked him from behind with a sharp weapon before fleeing the scene.
Dinesh was rushed to Capital Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The deceased's family filed a complaint, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
Rakesh, Dinesh’s elder brother, reported to the police, "My brother was hacked to death by Kanha, Gopal, and Dilu. They also called me during the attack. I rushed to the scene, but they had already escaped."
