Paris, July 8: Paris Olympics is nearing. Several records in various sports are likely to be topped. New champions, world record setters and victorious teams are certain get the adulations and hit the headlines.
But prior to the Paris Olympics 2024, Kenyan middle-distance runner Faith Kipyegon on Sunday set a new world-record in 1500 metre race at the Paris Diamond League. In fact, she broke her own world.
Kipyegon covered 800m in 2:04 as Australia’s Jess Hull positioned herself just a stride behind the multiple world and Olympic champion (Kipyegon).
As per the final standings, Jess Hull finished second with a timing of 3:50.83 and Britain's Laura Muir was third finishing the race in 3:53.79.
Earlier in the day, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh had broken the world high jump record with 2.10m.
Several old records in various sports including track and field events, are likely to be replaced with new ones this year, as the Olympic Games in the France capital. Many sports greats are expected to break their own previous records too like Kipyegon.
