Raipur, December 13: Two Naxalites, including a woman cadre, who carried a combined reward of Rs 10 lakh, surrendered to security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district on Saturday, according to police reports.

The individuals, identified as Santosh alias Lalpawan and Manju alias Nande, were involved in multiple instances of Maoist violence. These included an encounter with security personnel in which ten Naxalites were killed, as well as an IED blast that claimed the lives of two policemen.

The surrendered cadres cited the government’s rehabilitation policy as their primary motivation for abandoning their Maoist affiliation. They also referenced the success stories of former Naxalites who had previously surrendered, which further influenced their decision, an official noted.
