Malkangiri, Dec 10: Malkangiri Police found the severed head of a woman on Wednesday. It was located near a riverbank close to a Kanya Ashram in Rakhelguda, about 40 kilometres from where her headless body was discovered last week.

The woman’s body was found without her head on December 4. This caused tension and disputes between two nearby villages, MV-26 and Rakhelguda, over the past several days.

Police are working hard to understand what happened. The missing head had caused arguments between the two villages, with each side blaming the other. The head was found after local villagers told the police about it.

The woman, who lived in Rakhelguda, had gone missing on December 3. Her headless body was found the next day, leading to unrest, including protests and fights in both villages.

Earlier, police had been searching for the head while examining the body. Their search continued in the area after the body was found.

On Tuesday, a peace meeting was held in Malkangiri with senior police officers and village leaders to calm the situation. The Superintendent of Police said that a peace agreement was reached. However, legal restrictions were placed, and internet service was shut down for safety during the tense days.

Police confirmed that the head is now in their possession and investigation into the murder is still underway.
