Phulbani, Mar 9: Maoists allegedly murdered a couple in Salaguda village within the Gochhapada police jurisdiction of Kandhamal district, suspecting them of being informants for the police.
The deceased have been identified as Dahira Kanhar and his wife Batasi Kanhar.
According to the information, both the husband and wife were asleep when the maoists allegedly abducted them from their home around 2 am on Friday. Later, their bodies were discovered in a nearby jungle on Saturday morning. Speculation suggests that the naxals may have ruthlessly murdered them under suspicion of being police informants before disposing of their bodies in the forest.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the couple was involved in cultivating ganja. It is presumed that the Maoists might have killed them due to a dispute related to ganja cultivation.
As of now, the bodies of the couple remain in the forest, as police officials have yet to arrive at the scene since the initial report. The incident has left the local community in shock, with villagers feeling shocking and fearful. Many are hesitant to venture into the forest to retrieve the bodies.
