Bhubaneswar, March 11: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sasmit Patra has urged the government to clarify the current status of LPG reserves amid concerns over a shortage of commercial cylinders. He called for transparency on supply timelines and relief measures for citizens.

Patra emphasized the need for clarity on the country's LPG reserves, consumption timelines, and when normal supply would resume. He also highlighted the importance of informing the public, especially the common man, about any potential energy crises and the government's resolution plans.

Patra also raised concerns over the recent Air India fare hike due to the West Asia crisis, calling it discriminatory amidst rising inflation in oil and LPG prices. He urged Air India to reduce prices.

Amidst these issues, RK Gupta of the LPG Association clarified that while commercial cylinders are temporarily restricted, there is no shortage of domestic LPG. The government has prioritized domestic supply under the Essential Commodities Act, with oil refineries directed to ramp up production.
