According to the IMD forecast, heavy rainfall is likely on Saturday in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

On Sunday, thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall and wind speeds of 30 to 40 km/h are expected in Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur.

Moving into the new week, similar conditions are forecast for May 26 in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.

On May 27, Koraput and Malkangiri are likely to witness heavy rainfall with strong winds ranging between 40–50 km/h, with potential for lightning activity.

The wet spell is expected to intensify on May 28, bringing widespread rainfall to Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Kalahandi. Coastal and northern interior regions of the state may also receive thunderstorms with moderate rain.

On May 29, the final day of the current forecast period, the IMD anticipates heavy rains and strong winds in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi.

The IMD attributes the current spell of rain to the influx of moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, which has led to significant precipitation in southern Odisha over the last 24 hours. Light to moderate showers were also reported across several northern districts.

The IMD has advised residents in the affected areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions, particularly in regions prone to lightning and strong winds.
