Mumbai, Jan 8: Bollywood fans are eagerly counting down to the release of Border 2, which is set to hit cinema halls on January 23. The film, a sequel to the 1997 classic Border, is based on the 1971 India–Pakistan war and related real-life events. While the original was directed by J.P. Dutta, Border 2 is helmed by Anurag Singh.

During a recent “Ask Me Anything” session on X (formerly Twitter), actor Varun Dhawan was asked by a Pakistani fan when the film would be released in Pakistan. The fan also requested him to convey their regards to Tara Singh. In response, Varun wrote, “Border 2 is a film based on the 1971 war and some real events associated with it. I am sure Sunny sir also has fans in Pakistan.” His reply quickly sparked discussion on social media.

Border 2 is being touted as one of the biggest sequels of 2026. The film stars Sunny Deol as Lieutenant Colonel Fateh Singh Kallar, Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, and Diljit Dosanjh as Flying Officer Jeet Singh Sekhon. The cast also includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Ahan Shetty.
