Bhubaneswar, February 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated several development projects worth Rs 633 crore in Subarnapur on Sunday, along with distributing Rs 126 crore in interest-free loans to 1,848 self-help groups.

Majhi highlighted the vital role of women in driving the state's rural development, emphasizing their entrepreneurial contributions.

The CM began his visit by paying tribute at the Samadhi Peeth of poet-saint Bhima Bhoi in Khaliapali, announcing a Rs 35 crore development plan for the site. Key projects launched included a river reservoir at Maraduguchha (Rs 557 crore), an open-air theatre (Rs 11.23 crore), Gandhi Stadium renovations (Rs 25.28 crore), and road improvements (Rs 4.23 crore).

Majhi also laid the foundation for 58 additional projects worth Rs 276 crore in areas like road infrastructure, drinking water, and rural development. He emphasized the empowerment of women through financial support for self-help groups and reiterated the government's commitment to inclusive growth, focusing on both rural and urban development.

Birmaharajpur MLA Raghunath Jagadala lauded the CM’s initiatives, noting the rapid development in agriculture, irrigation, and tourism.
