​​​​​​​Uttarakhand, Dec 30: At least 7 passengers were killed in Uttarakhand on Tuesday as a private bus fell into a deep gorge.

The mishap took place near the Vinayak Road under the Almora district when the bus was en route to Ramnagar in Naintal this morning.

The mishap is suspected as fallout of intense fog and lower visibility of the operator.

While en route, the bus reportedly went out of control and fell into the deep gorge.

Six passengers were declared dead on the spot, while one more death reported from the Bhikiyasain Govt. Hospital, officials confirmed.

It is believed that around 17 to 18 people were on board the bus at the time of the accident. Several passengers sustained injuries and were admitted to the nearest government hospital in Bhikiyasain for treatment.

After receiving information about the mishap, teams from the police, district administration and the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) rushed to the accident site.
