Speaking at the event, Oram said he had already made it clear during the last general election that he would not contest for either MP or MLA posts again. However, he affirmed his continued involvement with the party, saying, "I will remain active in the organization and work to strengthen it. If the party wishes, I will go to the Rajya Sabha. I want to pave the way for the younger generation."
Reflecting on his political journey, Oram stated, "I have no regrets. I am completely satisfied with my public service and the responsibilities I have shouldered over the years."
A prominent tribal leader from Odisha, Oram has been a key figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party for decades. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014, 2019, and 2024, and has also served as a Union Minister. In the 2024 general elections, he contested from the Sundargarh constituency as the BJP candidate.
Though stepping back from the electoral frontline, Oram emphasized that his commitment to the party and public service remains unchanged.
