Ranchi, June 28: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in a money laundering case linked to land scam.
Decision on Soren’s bail plea was reserved on June 13 by Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay.
Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31 in connection with money laundering linked to the land scam and was lodged at Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi since then.
Hemant Soren had resigned as the chief minister of Jharkhand before being arrested by the ED. His loyalist, Champai Soren, became the chief minister of the state.
The former chief minister of Jharkhand had llegedly forcefully occupied 8.5 acres of land in cahoots with a revenue sub-inspector in Ranchi.
