Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: In a major boost for folk artists in the state, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced an increase in the monthly allowance provided under the Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana. The announcement was made at the 48th State-level Pala Conference held at Park Lane in Keonjhar.
The decision comes as 2025 draws to a close and the state prepares to welcome 2026, bringing cheer to thousands of artists and their families. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the enhancement of the allowance is a mark of respect for artists who play a vital role in preserving and promoting Odia identity, culture, and tradition.
As per the revised structure, artists aged between 40 and 80 years will now receive a monthly allowance of ₹3,000, up from the existing ₹2,000. Similarly, artists above 80 years of age will receive ₹3,500 per month, an increase from ₹2,500.
The revised allowance is expected to benefit 47,704 artists across the state, providing financial relief and recognition to the traditional art community and their families.
