Bengaluru, May 31: In a significant development regarding the alleged sex video scandal, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officers successfully apprehended the absconding JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, the primary accused, and transported him to their office within the premises of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Bengaluru during the early hours of Friday.

Prajwal Revanna was conveyed to the SIT office in a Bolero vehicle, seated between two female officers assigned to the SIT, with other women staffers accompanying, except for the driver and one male staffer. According to sources, official intimation regarding his arrest was provided to Prajwal Revanna. He is slated to spend the night at the SIT office as an accused on Friday.  The arrest transpired at the Bengaluru International Airport shortly after his arrival from Munich, Germany, in the early hours of Friday.

Upon landing, thirty-three-year-old Prajwal Revanna was taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and subsequently handed over to the SIT overseeing the case. Sources indicate that the CISF secured the Lufthansa flight arriving from Munich and escorted Prajwal Revanna to the Immigration department.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, had left the country on April 26, following the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, after the emergence of the alleged sex video scandal.

Previously, authorities had issued an arrest warrant, a lookout notice, and a Blue Corner notice against him. Prajwal Revanna arrived in Bengaluru on Lufthansa flight No. LH764 from Munich, holding a business class ticket. Later in the day, he is expected to undergo medical examinations at Bowring Hospital. Authorities are obligated to present him before a judge within 24 hours of his arrest.

Notably, neither JD-S workers nor his legal representatives were present at the airport or within the CID premises.
