But Sri Lanka cricket expects him to do more and play the saviour again.Legend Sanath Jayasuriya has been named as the Interim Head Coach of Sri Lanka men's team after ex-manager Chris Silverwood parted ways with the Islanders after the dismal performance in the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
As per sources, Jayasuriya is all set to take over as the new head coach ahead of Sri Lanka's white-ball home series against India. The bilateral series between the Asian giants will get underway from July 27.
Team India will host the Jayasuriya-coached Sri Lanka side for three T20 Internationals and as many One Day Internationals (ODIs) in July, reports added.
