Bhubaneswar, November 21: Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Pravtai Parida on Friday inaugurated the light and show facility at the iconic Sun Temple at Konark in Puri district.

Two shows of 40 minutes each will be held in a day. The first slot will be held from 6.30 PM to 7.10 PM while the second show will be held between 7.30 PM and 8.10 PM. The show timing will be changed during the summer.

The show which describes the glorious history behind the construction of the magnificent temple and its rich culture, can be watched in three languages - Odia, Hindi and English. Nearly 300 seating arrangements have been done for each show. Eight modern projectors have been installed in the south-eastern side of the temple for the visitors to watch the show.

Tourism Secretary Balwant Singh, Director Dipankar Mohapatra, Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida, SP Prateek Singh, Superintending Archaeologist of ASI, Puri circle, Dr DB Garnayak and Tourism Department Assistant Director Sarojkanta Pradhan were present during the inagural show.

Konark Sun Temple, a 13th-century marvel that continues to draw travellers, historians and pilgrims from around the world. At first glance, it appears as a breathtaking stone chariot dedicated to Surya, the Sun God.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Konark Sun Temple is one of India's most beautiful architectural marvels. It is shaped like a chariot with 24 wheels and pulled by stone horses.
