Mumbai, Sept 16: At the trailer launch of their upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan spoke out about the potential dangers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its misuse, particularly in the entertainment industry.
Addressing the issue of AI-generated fake images, Janhvi shared her concerns about how easily manipulated images of her have been circulated on social media. “When I see on social media, there are so many AI images being shared without my consent. You and I can say it's an AI image, but the common man might think, ‘Yeh toh yeh pehen ke pohonch gayi (She actually went out wearing this)’,” she said. Janhvi, describing herself as "old school," emphasized the importance of preserving “human creativity and authenticity in storytelling.”
Varun Dhawan, echoing her concerns, added, “Technology is helpful, but it has its demerits. We need laws and regulations to protect actors and their identities from being misused.” He also pointed out that every actor possesses a unique “X factor,” something no algorithm can replicate, stressing that this individuality makes each actor irreplaceable.
The film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which also stars Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul, is a mix of romance, humor, and family drama. The movie is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan, under the banners of Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment. It is set to release on October 2.
