Tel Aviv [Israel], October 2: The Israeli government has today officially declared UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata (unacceptable person), banning him from entering the country.
This move follows comments by Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who criticized Guterres for not condemning the attacks on Israel by Hamas and for his stance in the broader Middle Eastern conflict.
Katz stated that any leader who cannot unequivocally denounce Iran's actions, which he claims have been backing groups like Hamas, does not deserve to enter Israel.
Guterres, in his response to the conflict, had condemned the escalation but stopped short of assigning blame to specific parties like Iran or Hamas, which has led to significant frustration from Israel.
The situation has escalated following Iran's missile strikes on Israel, prompting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to warn that Iran would face repercussions for its actions.
