Local women entrepreneurs showcase brilliant traditional handicrafts

Bhubaneswar recently witnessed a spectacular display of rural talent during the highly anticipated Women Achievers of Odisha 2026 gathering. Hosted on February 28 at Hotel Crystal Crown in Patia, this important forum brought community leaders together. Serving as a prime sponsor, the company set up an exclusive stall to highlight incredible items crafted by local self-help groups. This lively showcase perfectly aligns with their ongoing mission to preserve cultural heritage while creating sustainable livelihoods for rural communities.

Celebrating traditional Odisha craftsmanship

Visitors explored a vibrant array of Vedanta Aluminium SHG products that vividly reflect the region's deep cultural roots. Talented rural women proudly presented handmade Dokra art and beautiful traditional Saura paintings . Buyers also purchased pure organic honey sourced directly from farmers, along with carefully handcrafted notebooks. Every single item on display proved that these village artisans possess immense skill, creativity, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Driving women empowerment in Odisha

Much of this grassroots success stems from the widely recognized Subhalaxmi Cooperative. Serving as the flagship program under Project Adikala, this massive network supports thousands of families. Currently, the cooperative unites 5,180 members spread across more than 480 separate groups. Well over 1,200 of these dedicated individuals actively run structured livelihood businesses. By providing essential capacity building, quality standardization training, and crucial market linkages, the cooperative helps participants shift from informal daily wage work into running organized rural women micro-enterprises.

Fostering financial independence through local ventures

Multiple women-led brands flourish under this highly supportive umbrella. Customers love buying beautiful terracotta pieces from the VedMurtika unit or elegant textiles from the popular handloom brand VedSuta. Furthermore, the cooperative manages a successful jute product line, a delicious traditional snacks brand called VedSwad, and a bustling candle-making workshop. These specific Project Adikala initiatives do much more than just generate a steady income. They nurture leadership skills, boost financial independence, and build long-term economic resilience for families across the state.
