Bhubaneswar, Mar 16: BJP leader Irani Ray, who previously contested the Assembly election from Nayagarh in 2019 without success, has tendered her resignation from the party citing reasons of 'neglect'. Addressing her dissatisfaction, she sent out her resignation letter to the party's State president, Manmohan Samal.
"In light of my growing discontent, I regretfully announce my decision to resign from the BJP. Please consider this letter as my formal resignation from the primary membership," her letter stated. Her husband Lala Manoj Ray also quit the saffron camp on Friday. Irani expressed feeling sidelined within the party over the past few months. She underscored in her correspondence that despite dedicating five years of hard work to the party, she and her husband felt overlooked.
Irani highlighted her contributions and asserted that she had significantly bolstered the BJP's vote percentage in both the Assembly and panchayat elections in Nayagarh. She conveyed her grievances to the party president, which she claimed went unaddressed. Worth mentioning, Irani faced defeat in the 2019 Assembly election to BJD's Arun Sahoo.
