New Delhi, Nov 19: On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her deep respect for her late grandmother, calling her an "ideal" figure.

In a tribute posted on X, Priyanka highlighted Indira Gandhi's patriotism, strength, and courage, noting how her leadership made India a nuclear power and strengthened the nation's foundation. "Grandma, you are my ideal, and the values you imparted are always with me," she wrote.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, also paid homage to Indira Gandhi, emphasizing that her ethics and patriotism inspire him to stand against injustice. He credited her courage for shaping his own fearless decisions for the country.

Along with Rahul, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and other party leaders visited Shakti Sthal to offer floral tributes. Kharge hailed Indira Gandhi's leadership as an enduring source of inspiration, recognizing her sacrifices in safeguarding India's unity.

Indira Gandhi, born on November 19, 1917, was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru and the first woman Prime Minister of India. Her birth anniversary is observed as National Integration Day in honor of her contribution to India’s progress.
