Delhi, Feb 23: In a tragic incident, an Ambulance carrying a patient and six others from Ranchi for New Delhi for emergency care crashed soon after it took off.

The incident took place in the Chatra District limit in Jharkhand on Monday, Director General of Civil Aviation authorities said.

According to report, the aircraft, a Beechcraft C90 bearing tail number VT-AJV operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, took off from Ranchi at 7.11 pm with 7 passengers onboard for New Delhi.

"After establishing contact with Kolkata, at 19:34 IST aircraft lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at approximately 100 NM south-east of Varanasi," the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement.

Subsequently, it was found crashed in the Chatra area under the Simaria Police limit, the aviation regulator said.

Reports indicate the aircraft lost contact about 20 minutes after take-off from Ranchi, allegedly due to bad weather.

Further details about casualties and the cause of the crash are awaited as authorities continue their investigation.
