Baripada, Feb 25: In a first for the region, the Shri Shri Hari Baladev Jiu Shrine at Baripada has embraced digital payments, allowing devotees to make offerings and donations via UPI QR codes. From cobblers to large malls, digital payments have become widespread across India, and now even the Lord’s shrine is part of this cashless revolution.

The deity, which holds immovable property of over 44,000 acres across the district and possesses significant gold and silver ornaments, has faced delays in rituals and management due to the long absence of permanent administrative officers. Last year’s Rath Yatra also encountered difficulties because of delayed government support.

To streamline donations and support temple activities, Sub-Collector Dr. Dayasindhu Parida, along with the temple committee, installed QR codes linked to the deity’s bank accounts at the temple, government offices, and public locations across the district.

The initiative has been widely appreciated by devotees, who can now contribute without visiting the temple. According to Dr. Parida, this digital donation system has helped more people participate in spiritual offerings and earn religious merit conveniently.
