Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: Bhubaneswar is experiencing an intense cold wave, with dry and chilly winds sweeping across Odisha and causing a sharp drop in temperatures over the past three days. The sudden fall has left residents struggling to cope with one of the coldest spells of the season.

According to official readings recorded at 5:30 am, the minimum temperature in the state capital has dropped by 7.2 degrees Celsius within three days. The mercury stood at 18.6°C on January 4, dipped slightly to 18.0°C on January 5, fell further to 15.4°C on January 6, and plunged to 11.4°C on January 7.

Mornings have turned particularly harsh, with dense fog and biting winds intensifying the chill. Meteorologists have attributed the sudden dip in temperature to the continuous inflow of dry, cold air from northern India.

With temperatures expected to remain low over the next few days, Bhubaneswar is bracing for prolonged cold wave conditions.
