Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar on Sunday busted an inter-state cyber fraud gang and arrested 12 fraudsters during a joint operation.

According to the Special Squad, most of the fraudsters are from Bihar & Kerala, including a few members from Odisha.

According to report, police received local inputs on suspicious activities of a group of youths residing in a rented house at Badagada. Based on some further clues, the police conducted a raid on the house that revealed the centre as a hub of cybercrime.

During the raid, police recovered and seized a substantial cache of incriminating materials relating to cyber fraud, including nearly 60 mobile phones, multiple laptops, gift cards, and lottery cards. These items were allegedly used by the accused to cheat gullible victims through various online platforms, digital applications, and fraudulent schemes.

During preliminary investigations the police found that the gang was running a well-organised cybercrime network, using multiple mobile numbers and digital identities to lure victims and siphon off their money during interaction.

Further investigation is underway to trace out the victims and ascertain the modus operandi of the fraudsters, said DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena.
