Balasore, Dec 3: While corporal punishment is banned on school campus, a Class IV boy of a residential school in Odisha’s Balasore district has been found tied to a bed.

Balasore MP, Pratap Sarangi on Wednesday sought a probe into the matter as the feature went viral on social media.

According to reports, a scene featuring a boy tied to a hostel bed made the rounds on social media. Following massive public outrage over the feature, someone linked the footage to the Balasore MP and his Personal Assistance (PA).

Acting on it, MP Sarangi asked the district Collector Balasore to initiate a probe into the incident.

Primary investigation revealed that, the scene is of a residential school situated in the Begunia area.

While the HM deposed that the boy was tied by his guardian, the kid alleged that he was fastened by one of the hostel attendants.

Investigation is underway. Why the minor boy was knotted in the school hostel, that’s declared as a ‘No Punishment Zone’, is yet to be ascertained.
