Phulbani, Nov 27: An Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) from Daringibadi block in Sonepur district sustained grievous injuries after being attacked late Wednesday night. She has been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar and her condition is reported to be critical.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the ANM, Buli Dei Sahu, returned home after completing her night rounds. A youth, who had allegedly been hiding near her residence, assaulted her as she approached the gate. The attack caused heavy bleeding.
She was initially rushed to Daringibadi Medical Centre for primary treatment and was later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced medical care.
Daringibadi police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The assault is believed to have taken place while the victim’s husband was away from home. Based on CCTV footage, police have detained the prime suspect and are currently interrogating him.
