Berhampur, Dec 6: A shocking incident occurred in Patharapalli village under the Kabisuryanagar police station, where a 60-year-old man was killed by his neighbor with an axe. The deceased has been identified as Krushnachandra Mohanty. The accused, Narayan Das, has fled and is currently absconding.

According to reports, the conflict began on Friday when Narayan’s pet mongoose ate some chickens at Krushnachandra’s house, leading to an argument. Krushnachandra had instructed Narayan to restrain the mongoose.

The confrontation escalated on Saturday morning around 8 AM, when the mongoose again entered Krushnachandra’s house. In the ensuing altercation, Narayan allegedly struck Krushnachandra on the head with an axe, resulting in his immediate death.

The police have reached the scene and launched an investigation while searching for the fugitive.
