International Yoga Day celebrated across Odisha with enthusiasm

Bhubaneswar, June 21: The 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great zeal across various parts of Odisha today, emphasizing this year’s global theme, “One Earth, One Health”, which highlights the deep connection between individual well-being and the health of the planet.

In Phulbani, the event took place at the local Coronation Ground with active participation from government officials, students, and the public. The celebration was graced by Minister Nityananda Gand, who also holds portfolios for School and Mass Education, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development, Minority Welfare, and Differently-abled Empowerment. He highlighted yoga’s benefits in relieving mental stress, depression, and various ailments, urging everyone to integrate yoga into daily life. Phulbani MLAs Uma Charan Mallik and Praful Chandra Pradhan encouraged people to adopt yoga as a regular practice. The program included yoga demonstrations led by guru Prashant Kumar Das and students Anupama Nanda and Shravan Kumar Rana. District Collector Amrit Ruturaj delivered the welcome speech, and Additional District Collector (Revenue) Ramesh Chandra Jena extended thanks. Minister Gand and other dignitaries also took part in a tree plantation drive.

In Chhatrapur, the International Yoga Day was organized at the local stadium with participation from prominent leaders such as State Minister for Steel, Commerce, and Transport Bibhuti Jena, MLA Krishna Chandra Nayak, Additional District Collector General Pramod Kumar Prusti, Ganjam Superintendent of Police Shubhendu Kumar Patra, Zilla Parishad Chairperson and Development Officer S. Madhumita, Sub-Collector Shivashish Baral, and others. Participants performed yoga exercises and took a pledge to promote yoga in their communities.

At Nilgiri in Baleswar district, the day was observed at the Nilgiri Indoor Stadium. Local MLA Santosh Khatuar, NAC Executive Officer, officers from various departments, employees, and residents joined the event. A yoga guru provided practical tips on yoga practice, while the MLA emphasized the importance of maintaining good health through regular yoga.
