Darbhanga, Nov 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure a decisive win in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

He asserted that the ruling coalition is poised to win more than 160 seats and form the next government under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership.

“We will win more than 160 seats and form a government in Bihar,” Shah said in an interview with Times Now on Monday. Emphasizing the stability of the alliance, he added, “Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister here, and Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister there. The CM’s seat is not vacant, and neither is the PM’s.”

Shah also hit back at Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge for their personal remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the campaign.

Responding to Gandhi’s quip that the Prime Minister could “dance Bharat Natyam for votes” and Kharge’s comparison of Modi’s rallies to a “wedding celebration,” Shah said such statements reflected the Congress’s frustration.

“When Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister, he couldn’t connect directly with the people, and since then the Congress has treated it as a norm that a PM should not campaign,” Shah said. “Why shouldn’t the Prime Minister promote? Elections are a celebration of democracy, and reaching out to people is the responsibility of every leader.”

He further added, “Every time the Congress has used abusive language against Modi ji — whether it was Mani Shankar Aiyar or others — the people have responded by ensuring victory for the BJP. This time too, it will backfire.”
