Puri, November 30: Trouble mounts for social media influencer Shubhankar Mishra as a senior servitor of Shree Jagannath Temple lodged an FIR against him for making controversial statements involving the 12th century shrine.

According to reports, one Gourahari Pradhan, a senior servitor of Shree Jagannath Temple, lodged an FIR at the Singhadwar police station seeking legal action against Mishra on Sunday.

For the context, the young social media influencer, in a video, reportedly made controversial remarks recently saying that if couples in a romantic relationship visit the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri before marriage, they would never be able to get married. He attributed this to what he described as a "curse" of Goddess Radharani on the shrine, considered to be one of the four pilgrimage sites of Char Dham in the country.

In the video, Mishra narrated a story saying that Radharani once attempted to visit the shrine to see Lord Jagannath, but was stopped by the servitors. According to him, the servitors told her that even the Lord’s wives were not permitted inside, so she too could not be allowed entry into the 12th century shrine.

Mishra's remarks have triggered sharp reactions with servitors and Jagannath devotees across the globe calling it misleading and disrespectful.

On Saturday, Puri District Collector Dibyajyoti Parida, while appealing to the public to exercise caution and refrain from spreading misinformation on Shreemandir, said that strict action will be taken against those circulating incorrect information about Jagannath temple and culture.
