Puri, July 14: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Arabinda Padhee today informed the inner Ratna Bhandar (inner treasury) of Srimandir was opened after breaking the locks.
The locks could not be opened through keys.The inner Ratna Bhandar was opened after breaking the locks, said Padhee after coming out of Ratna Bhandar.
He said all the ornaments of outer Ratna Bhandar have been shifted.
The contents of the inner Ratna Bhandar are in almirahs and chests. As shifting of contents of the inner Ratna Bhandar cannot be done partially and time ran out, we have decided that another day will be finalised to do the same,” he informed.
Ratna Bhandar of Lord Jagannath temple in Puri was reopened after 46 years on Sunday. The Ratna Bhandar has two chambers — Bhitar Bhandar (Inner Treasury) and Bahar Treasury (Outer Treasury).
The treasury is home to precious gold and diamond jewellery offered to Lord Jagannath.
A team of 11 members were formed by the state government to enter the treasury. Former Orissa High Court judge Biswanath Rath, SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee, ASI Superintendent DB Gadanayak and a representative of Puri's titular king 'Gajapati Maharaja' were part of the team.
