Puri, July 15: The inner Ratna Bhandar in Odisha’s Puri Jagannath Temple will be reopened after the Bahuda Yatra.
Chief Administration of Shri Jagannath Temple Administration(SJTA), Dr. Arabinda Padhee informed it, after a 11-member team returned from the temple without any inventory of the gems and jewels treasured in the Ratna Bhandar.
While interacting with the media persons, Padhee said, the team entered into the outer cellar of the Ratna Bhandar.Subsequently, its belongings were safely shifted to the temporary strongboxes placed in the Changada Ghar and Khata-seja Ghar of the temple. Later, it was locked and sealed by the SJTA with deploying security personnel for its watch and vigil.
As the process of retrieving and porting the valuable ornaments of the god, those are generally used in the regular rituals of the deities took much time, it was too difficult to inventorize the belongings of the inner cellar of the Ratna Bhandar, the Chief Administrator said.
However, Dr. Padhee asserted that, the inner Ratna Bhandar was broken open as it was not opened with its keys. Following this, the team accompanied by ASI officials, supervised its overall status.
A suitable date, conveniently after the Niladri Bije rituals, will be scheduled for reopening and inventory of the inner parts of the Ratna Bhandar, Dr. Padhee added.
