Puri, Ap 21:In a chilling incident that unfolded late Sunday night, two minors were tied to an electric pole, branded with burning cigarette butts, and were even forced to drink urine by assailants in Odisha’s Puri district.
Though the exact reason behind such inhumane activity is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that it might have been done over a clash that reportedly erupted over an earlier altercation between two groups.
As per reports, a group of youths from Kotakusanga, agitated by the earlier altercation, turned their wrath towards two minor youths from Birat Sahi, suspecting them to be involved in the clash. The minors, who were merely bystanders, were captured and subjected to horrifying torture.
Upon being informed, Balanga police reached the spot and detained one youth from Pradhan Sahi for his alleged involvement in the act.
The villagers, along with the minors’ families, staged a protest at the Balanga police station demanding the arrest of all culprits. “Such barbaric acts cannot be tolerated in a civilised society,” a local resident said. “We want all those involved to be arrested and punished severely.”
The police have assured strict action, stating that more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
