Jammu, Aug 1: The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration bid on the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district and gunned down one Pakistani intruder last evening.
"In the intervening night of July 31 and August 1, 2024, vigilant BSF troops detected suspicious movement across the International Border (IB) in the Samba border area. An intruder was observed approaching the BSF fence, and the alert troops neutralized the intruder, thwarting the infiltration attempt," the BSF reported.
There have been no reports so far about the recovery of any weapon from the intruder or whether the infiltration attempt was made by a single individual or a group.
Security forces have been maintaining the highest level of alertness following recent attacks in the hilly districts of the Jammu division, where terrorists have ambushed security forces and conducted hit-and-run attacks.
Reports indicate that a group of 40-50 foreign mercenaries are responsible for these attacks. In response, the Army has deployed over 4,000 highly trained soldiers from elite commando forces and those skilled in mountain warfare across the Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Reasi, and Udhampur districts of the Jammu division.
Intelligence-based cordon and search operations are being carried out daily by security forces in these districts to hunt down hiding terrorists.
