Rajasthan, June 26: An Indian Navy staffer posted at the naval headquarters in New Delhi was held from Jaipur on Wednesday on charges of spying for Pakistan
He had allegedly shared classified defence information to Pakistani handlers during the Operation Sindoor, for Cryptocurrency.
The accused has been identified as Vishal Yadav, who served as an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) in the Directorate of Dockyard at the Navy headquarters.
Yadav’s Pakistan-link came to fore after he received funds from Pakistan in terms of Cryptocurrency.
Inspector General of Police (CID-Security) Vishnu Kant Gupta said that Yadav, a native of Rewari, Haryana, was in touch with a Pakistani intelligence operative, who reportedly faked her identity as an Indian lady named Priya Sharma.
According to reports, Yadav confessed of receiving at least Rs 2 lakh for his espionage and Rs 50,000 later during the Operation Sindoor for linking secret information with Pakistani operatives. He had also credited sizeable amount to his account as Cryptocurrency.
Further investigation is underway by a number of agencies, to rule out other’s connivance in the crime.
