Bhubaneswar: Host Odisha made a clean sweep by winning sub-junior, junior and senior women’s 7’s titles of the two-day-long Asmita Rugby League National, which concluded at Kalinga stadium here on Sunday.

 

In the sub-junior U-15 girls final, Sumi Gagarai’s triple try and a try by Maina Tudu helped Odisha to claim the champion title by defeating Bihar 26-5. Similarly, Manisha Majhi scored three try and Mamali Singh, Hisi Tudu scored a try each and guided Odisha junior girls edged out Maharashtra by 29-0 and claimed the title.

 

In the senior women’s final match, Odisha’s Tarulata Naik and Sunita Tudu scored a double try each, while Parbati Hemram, Mama naik and Nimalya Rout scored a try each and the host emerged champion by eliminating Bihar by 41-05.   

 

Sports and Youth Services Director Yeddula Vijay gave away the prizes in the closing ceremony in presence of Odisha Rugby Football Association President Priyadarshi Mishra and vice president Upendra Kumar Mohanty,    

 

Semifinals results: Sub junior U-15 girls: Bihar bt Maharashtra 24-0, Odisha bt Rajasthan 38-05

Junior U-18 girls: Maharashtra bt Bihar 22-17, Odisha bt Rajasthan 29-0

Senior women: Bihar bt Maharashtra 15-10, Odisha bt West Bengal 36-0.
