New Delhi, Sep 17: The next round of negotiations for an India-EU free trade agreement (FTA) will be held from September 23-27 in the national capital.
Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal on Tuesday said both sides will discuss core trade issues covering goods, services, investment and government procurement along with necessary rules such as rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS), technical barriers to trade (TBT) and trade remedies.
He said the concerns of Indian stakeholders regarding the EU's sustainability measures, such as Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), deforestation, and others, will be discussed with the EU side.
Negotiations for an India-EU FTA were formally re-launched on June 17, 2022. Negotiations cover 23 policy areas and chapters. Eight rounds of negotiations have been held till now.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal said recently that India is actively working on the process of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with many countries and expressed confidence in fast progress with the United Kingdom.
