Bhubaneswar, February 2:President Droupadi Murmu landed in Bhubaneswar this evening aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft, beginning her six-day official tour of Odisha and Chhattisgarh from February 2 to 7.

The President was warmly welcomed at Biju Patnaik International Airport by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other high-ranking officials. Following the welcome ceremony, her convoy proceeded to Lok Bhawan under stringent security measures.

This visit holds immense significance for Odisha, as President Murmu, a native of Mayurbhanj district and the first tribal woman to hold the office of President, returns to her home state.

Her itinerary blends official responsibilities with cultural engagements that honor her deep ties to the region.

During her stay in Odisha, President Murmu is scheduled to:

  • Attend the convocation of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore.
  • Offer prayers and perform rituals at the historic Biraja Temple in Jajpur district.
  • Engage in cultural activities and public events in Puri and Mayurbhanj.

Following her Odisha visit, the President will travel to Chhattisgarh to fulfill further official duties.

Extensive arrangements have been made at the venues across both states, with local authorities ensuring smooth operations and heightened security.

Public events are expected to draw large crowds as locals eagerly anticipate her visit.
