Jammu, May 8: Pakistan launched eight missiles targeting areas including Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, all of which were successfully intercepted by Indian air defence systems, according to defence sources on Thursday.

“Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot & Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin #drones and missiles along the International Border in J&K today. The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material losses were reported. India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people,” Ministry of Defence posted on X.

Sources reported that the pattern of attacks over Jammu resembled tactics used by Hamas against Israel, involving multiple low-cost rockets. The Pakistan Army, they added, appeared to be adopting strategies similar to those of terror groups like Hamas.

Last month, a meeting reportedly took place between Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Hamas in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In recent developments, explosions were heard in Udhampur as Indian air defence units intercepted Pakistani drones in the region.

Similar drone incursions were detected and neutralized in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, accompanied by loud explosions and visible flashes in the sky. In response to the heightened threat, complete blackouts have been implemented in several locations including Bikaner (Rajasthan), Jalandhar (Punjab), and parts of Jammu and Kashmir such as Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, and Jammu.

Amid rising tensions, Pakistan escalated its aggression on Thursday by deploying loitering munitions toward Jammu, prompting Indian air defence forces to respond with counterfire.
