Mumbai, June 25: The man who allegedly stabbed a co-passenger to death inside a moving AC local train in Mumbai after a dispute over closing the coach door during heavy rain was arrested from Panvel area, police said.
Police tracked him to Panvel through multiple CCTV footages, said reports.
The accused has been identified as Roshan Suvarna(30), a native of Mira-Bhayander area in the City who works in making bar codes for an organization.
Roshan allegedly attacked Mayank Lohar inside the first-class compartment of a Churchgate-Nallasopara fast local at late night on Tuesday.
According to officials, Lohar was travelling between Andheri and Borivali stations when an argument broke out with another passenger over closing the coach door amid heavy rain. The dispute allegedly escalated, following which Suvarna stabbed Lohar in the abdomen in a fit of rage. Following this, he wreaked horror in the train marching to and fro inside the compartment holding the blood-soaked sharp knife that he used in killing Lohar, a local salesman.
The accused, after taking his testimonies, was sent to judicial remand.
Further investigation into the gruesome crime is underway to corroborate with the other evidence collected from the crime scene, said the police.
