Jajpur, May 13: In a tragic incident, a young couple was found hanging from a banyan tree at Ishwarpur village under Mangalpur police station, Jajpur district

The deceased have been identified as Sameer Das (22) of Ishwarpur Rajjena Sahi, and Surekha Mallik (20), daughter of Rabindra Mallik from Mallikapur village. The couple had reportedly been in a long relationship.

Villagers found the bodies and immediately informed the police. The Mangalpur police reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and sent for post-mortem examination.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Sameer Das worked for a private company in Kerala and had returned home about 15 days ago. The sudden deaths have created a wave of shock and grief across the local community. Police, along with a forensic team, are investigating the circumstances that led to the deaths to determine whether it was a case of suicide or foul play.
