World Environment Day: Odisha Governor plants sapling, calls for collective action for a sustainable tomorrow

Bhubaneswar, June 5: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday planted saplings at Atal Van on the premises of Lok Bhavan on the occasion of World Environment Day.

“On World Environment Day, I joined the plantation drive at Atal Van, Lok Bhavan, reaffirming our shared responsibility towards protecting and preserving nature,” the Governor posted on ‘X’.

He emphasised that environment conservation is a commitment to future generations.

“Environmental conservation is not merely a duty but a commitment to future generations. Every tree planted today strengthens our collective efforts towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable tomorrow,” said the Governor.

Calling for a collective awareness and action to safeguard the environment, the Governor said, “Environmental responsibility must become an integral part of our daily lives. Through collective awareness and action, we can safeguard our planet and ensure a future where progress and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.”

World Environment Day is observed every year on June 5. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 during the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

World Environment Day serves as a global reminder that environmental protection is not just a responsibility of Governments but of every individual and community.
