Keonjhar, Feb 14: Police have arrested a woman from Hatadihi village in Anandapur on charges of defrauding a job aspirant of ₹22 lakh by promising employment, officials said on Friday.

According to the complaint filed at Khandagiri police station, the accused woman had allegedly taken money from the complainant in exchange for a job offer that never materialised. Following the complaint, a police team was formed to investigate the matter and began further inquiries.

During the course of the investigation, the Khandagiri police traced the suspect to Kendujhar and arrested her, police sources confirmed. The accused was produced before the court after the High Court denied anticipatory bail, police said.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine whether more individuals are involved in the alleged fraudulent employment racket. The police have urged the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious job offers to avoid falling prey to similar scams.
