Bhubaneswar, May 10: Odisha Congress President Bhakta Charan Das on Sunday congratulated actor-turned-politician Vijay on his election as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, drawing parallels between his film persona and his political promise.
Das expressed optimism about Vijay’s leadership, highlighting the actor’s long-standing on-screen focus on social justice and championing the underprivileged—qualities that resonate with voters.
Das remarked, “Just as Vijay’s characters fight for the common man in his films, I believe he will bring reforms never seen before. I congratulate him—this is a remarkable achievement, and the people of Tamil Nadu have chosen him to serve them.”
On Sunday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his congratulatory message. In a post on X, he wrote, “I sincerely thank the Hon’ble Prime Minister Thiru @narendramodi Avl for his kind wishes on my assumption of office. Our primary objective is the welfare and progress of our people. We look forward to the active support and cooperation of the Union Government for Tamil Nadu’s continued growth.”
Vijay officially took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at a grand ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Governor Arlekar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Vijay and nine cabinet ministers, marking a significant turning point in the state’s political landscape.
Following the ceremony, Vijay paid tribute to social reformer E. V. Ramasamy (Periyar) at the Thanthai Periyar EV Ramaswamy Memorial in Chennai and met with Dravidar Kazhagam President K. Veeramani, signaling his commitment to social welfare and inclusive development.
