Bhubaneswar, Mar 2: In Odisha, women empowerment is no longer just a slogan. It is becoming a tangible reality as women across various sectors, from agriculture to business, continue to break barriers and achieve remarkable milestones. Their contributions are paving the way for a more prosperous Odisha, with a vision for growth by 2036. As the state emerges as a key engine of development in India, women are playing a pivotal role in shaping this transformative journey.

This message was at the heart of the ‘Udyog Urja 2026’ event, organized by Prameya and News-7 in collaboration with SOA University, ahead of International Women’s Day. The event, held at the Crystal Crown Hotel in Bhubaneswar, was a celebration of 21 women entrepreneurs who have made significant strides in their respective industries. Among the distinguished guests were Surama Padhi, Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Saswati Das, Director of Suma Real Media Pvt. Ltd., and renowned actor Amar Upadhyay, all of whom shared in the celebration of women’s achievements.

Over the past four editions of this event, more than 100 women entrepreneurs have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to various fields. Surama Padhi, in her address, highlighted the crucial role of women in society, particularly at the grassroots level. These women, many of whom are part of self-help groups or run small businesses, are not only excelling in food processing but are also preserving and promoting Odisha’s rich traditional arts, such as making Pitha, a cherished local sweet. Their work is directly contributing to the state’s economic prosperity.

“We are witnessing women rise to new heights, whether it’s in the world of business or in cultural preservation. These women are shaping the future of Odisha, and it is crucial for us to support and nurture their efforts,” said Surama Padhi during her speech.

The event also spotlighted how women entrepreneurs in Odisha are embracing new technologies. From the adoption of Artificial Intelligence to harnessing the power of digital platforms, these women are modernizing traditional industries and leading the way in the commercial sector. Their forward-thinking approach has positioned them as key drivers of Odisha’s development.

Gopal Krushna Mohapatra, Group Editor of Prameya and News-7, and Sunil Das, CEO of Suma Real Media Pvt. Ltd., were also present at the event, expressing their support for the empowerment of women.

The ‘Udyog Urja 2026’ event has not only celebrated the success of these women but also inspired future generations of entrepreneurs. By showcasing the achievements of these trailblazers, the event is fostering a new wave of women entrepreneurs who are set to lead in various fields, from technology to traditional crafts.

The continued efforts of Prameya and News-7 to promote women’s entrepreneurship are expected to drive positive changes in society, creating even more opportunities for women in business. As Odisha moves forward, the role of women entrepreneurs will undoubtedly continue to be crucial in shaping a prosperous and thriving state.
