Keonjhar, June 2: A tragic fire accident triggered by an LPG gas cylinder left two members of a family with serious burn injuries at Uparadiha village under Ghatagaon police limits in Odisha's Keonjhar district on Monday.
The injured have been identified as Bapi Das and his daughter, Barsha Das. Both were rescued and admitted to the Ghatagaon Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Bapi Das was preparing to cook and attempted to ignite the gas stove using a lighter. Suddenly, flames erupted from the stove and the gas cylinder, causing severe burns to his face and legs.
Seeing her father engulfed in flames, Barsha rushed to rescue him. In the process, she too suffered burn injuries after coming into contact with the fire.
On receiving information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The father and daughter were subsequently rescued and shifted to the Ghatagaon health centre for medical treatment.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
